CLASS OFFERING
Our instructors specialize in flute, clarinet, saxophone, and oboe, bringing deep technical knowledge and genuine teaching experience to every lesson. We cover embouchure formation, tone production, breath support, articulation, finger technique, music reading, and stylistic fluency — building a complete foundation that serves students in school band, solo performance, jazz ensemble, or simply for the love of playing.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Your first woodwind lesson begins with the basics of how sound is produced on your specific instrument — the embouchure for flute is very different from clarinet or saxophone, and getting this foundation right from the start makes everything that follows easier and more musical. Your instructor will help you produce your first clear tones, introduce basic fingerings, and begin developing the breath support that all woodwind playing requires.
As lessons progress, you will work through scales and arpeggios, expand your note range, improve your tone quality, and begin reading notation with increasing fluency. School band students will work on the specific music they are performing in their ensemble alongside private technique development.
Intermediate and advanced students explore extended techniques, vibrato, advanced articulation patterns, style-specific phrasing, and repertoire preparation for solo, chamber, or large ensemble settings.

STYLES & GENRES OFFERED
We offer instruction on a full range of woodwind instruments and teach across multiple styles and performance contexts.
LESSONS & SCHEDULING
Our woodwind lessons are available in 30, 45, and 60-minute formats — designed to fit the age, experience level, and goals of each student. Most beginners start with 30-minute sessions and progress to longer lessons as their skills develop. We recommend 60-minute lessons for intermediate and advanced students working toward performance or audition goals.
We’re open Monday through Saturday, 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM at both our North Lakewood Ranch and East Bradenton locations. Flexible rescheduling and a friendly enrollment process make it easy to get started and keep going.
What Our Students
& Families Are Saying
“My daughter was struggling in school band and getting frustrated. After just a month of private lessons at Premier, her tone improved dramatically and her confidence came back with it.”
“I wanted to learn jazz sax and my instructor at Premier completely delivered. We work on real jazz standards and I’ve already started sitting in at a local jazz workshop. Incredible instruction.”
ENROLL TODAY
Flute and clarinet are the most common starting instruments and are well-suited for students as young as 9-10. Saxophone is an excellent choice for slightly older students. We’re happy to discuss which instrument best fits your child’s age, physical development, and musical interests.
Enormously. Private lessons address the individual technique issues that are hard to fix in a large group band rehearsal. Students who take private lessons almost always advance more quickly in their school program.
Yes. We have instructors with specific jazz saxophone expertise who teach improvisation, jazz phrasing, chord/scale relationships, and style alongside traditional technique. If jazz is your primary goal, let us know and we’ll match you accordingly.
Most students produce a recognizable, musical tone within the first few weeks. Consistent daily practice is the biggest factor — even 15 minutes a day produces much faster results than one long weekly session.
We recommend renting first, especially for younger students. Rental instruments are quality-checked, appropriately sized, and allow families to commit to the instrument before investing in ownership. We can advise on good rental options locally.
