CLASS OFFERING
Our instructors teach proper stick grip, posture, and ergonomics from the very first lesson — building technique that prevents injury and enables long-term progress. From there, students develop hand-foot coordination, dynamic control, reading drum notation, and the musical awareness that transforms a good timekeeper into a genuinely great drummer. We teach rock, jazz, funk, gospel, pop, and Latin styles, and we tailor every lesson to what excites each student.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Your first lesson covers the fundamentals: how to sit at a drum kit correctly, matched versus traditional grip, basic single strokes and double strokes, and your first simple rock groove. Your instructor will assess your natural sense of rhythm and build from exactly where you are.
Over the first weeks and months, lessons progress through rudiments, paradiddles, fills, bass drum technique, hi-hat patterns, and how to play along with real music. Students are encouraged to bring songs they love so learning stays connected to music that genuinely motivates them.
Advanced students work toward independence — the ability to play different rhythms simultaneously with all four limbs — as well as stylistic fluency, speed, groove depth, and the kind of musical listening that makes a drummer indispensable in any ensemble.

STYLES & GENRES OFFERED
Our drum instructors are versatile players with experience performing and teaching across a
wide range of styles. We match the curriculum to the student’s musical interests and goals.
LESSONS & SCHEDULING
Our drums lessons are available in 30, 45, and 60-minute formats — designed to fit the age, experience level, and goals of each student. Most beginners start with 30-minute sessions and progress to longer lessons as their skills develop. We recommend 60-minute lessons for intermediate and advanced students working toward performance or audition goals.
We’re open Monday through Saturday, 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM at both our North Lakewood Ranch and East Bradenton locations. Flexible rescheduling and a friendly enrollment process make it easy to get started and keep going.
What Our Students
& Families Are Saying
“My son has ADHD and we were worried about keeping his focus during lessons. His drum instructor at Premier completely won him over — he practices without being asked and counts down to his next lesson.”
“I always wanted to play drums and finally started lessons at 40. Best decision I’ve made in years. My instructor is patient, fun, and genuinely excellent at teaching adults who are new to the instrument.”
ENROLL TODAY
An electronic drum kit or practice pad setup at home is strongly recommended for daily practice. Electronic kits are a great solution for noise-sensitive homes and are much more affordable than acoustic kits. We can advise on what setup makes sense for your budget and space.
We start young drummers as early as age 5. At this age, lessons focus on basic coordination, rhythm development, and fun — building a foundation that makes more structured technique work easier as they grow.
Electronic drum kits solve the volume problem almost entirely — they play at any volume you choose and can be used with headphones. For acoustic practice, drum pads and practice sticks produce very low volume while building the same skills.
Yes. Learning to read drum notation is part of our curriculum for students who are ready for it. Reading music opens up a much wider world of repertoire and is an important skill for anyone pursuing school band or more serious drumming.
Most students are playing their first real groove within the first 2-3 lessons. Within a few months of consistent practice, students can play along with simple songs and are working on fills, dynamics, and more complex patterns.
