electric guitar Lessons in Bradenton
& Lakewood Ranch, FL

There is nothing quite like plugging in and playing electric guitar.

At Premier Music Academy, our private electric guitar lessons are designed for students who want to explore the world of rock, blues, metal, jazz, and beyond — with expert instruction that covers everything from foundational technique to advanced lead playing.

Available at both our North Lakewood Ranch and East Bradenton locations, our electric guitar lessons serve students of all ages and experience levels. Whether you’re a beginner who just got your first guitar, a teen who wants to play like your favorite artist, or an adult looking to finally master the instrument you’ve always wanted to play, our instructors meet you where you are and take you where you want to go.

WHAT TO EXPECT

your first lesson

Your first lesson starts with the fundamentals: proper technique for holding a pick, right and left hand positioning, basic chords and power chords, and how to get a great tone from your amp. From the start, your instructor will connect what you’re learning to music you actually love.

developing skills

As you progress, lessons move into pentatonic and major scale patterns, bending and vibrato, palm muting, distortion and effects, and eventually full solos and lead techniques. Students interested in playing in a band will work on song structure, timing, and how to listen and play with other musicians.

goal focused

Advanced students can explore more complex areas: modes, jazz chord voicings, neoclassical technique, sweep picking, or whatever aligns with their goals. Every electric guitar lesson at Premier is built around the student’s vision — not a one-size-fits-all method book.

Most beginners start with 30-minute sessions and progress to longer lessons as their skills develop. We recommend 60-minute lessons for intermediate and advanced students working toward performance or audition goals.

FAQ

You’ll need an electric guitar and amp to practice at home, but you don’t need to have them before your first lesson. We can advise you on affordable starter packages that give you a great tone without breaking the bank.

In some ways electric guitar is actually easier to start on — the strings are lighter and the action is lower, making it less physically demanding for beginners. The main difference is the additional world of tone, effects, and technique that comes with it.

Most students start around age 8-10, though younger students can begin on acoustic or ukulele first. There is no upper age limit — adult beginners are very welcome.

Yes, theory is woven throughout lessons in a practical, applied way. Understanding scales, chord construction, and song structure makes you a better player and more creative musician — we teach it in the context of real music, not abstract exercises.

Absolutely — we encourage it. Playing your own instrument helps you get comfortable with your specific gear, and your instructor can help you dial in your tone and setup.
